As the season transitions from summer to fall, Panama City Beach offers a plethora of special events for the destination and the month of September. Labor Day weekend begins that transition with the 3rd annual Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam September 4th-6th at the festival site of Frank Brown Park. The event features a schedule, second to none, of top performing country music acts. The gates are open 2:00pm and performances end by 12:00 midnight. Performing on Friday September 4th will be Preston Summerville (2:30pm), Nick Sturms (3:20pm), Darryl Worley (4:20pm), Ronnie Milsap (5:30pm), Sam Hunt (6:45pm), Hunter Hayes (8:15pm), and headliner Lady Antebellum (10:15pm). Saturday September 5th will feature Them Dirty Roses (2:30pm), The Swon Brothers (3:20pm), Kristian Bush (4:20pm), Kellie Pickler (5:30pm), Scotty McCreery (6:45pm), Dwight Yoakam (8:15pm) and headliner Miranda Lambert (10:15pm). Sunday September 6th concludes the event with performances by Pepsi Southern Original Contest winner (2:30pm), Jack Ingram (3:20pm), Kirstie Lovelady (4:20pm), Tyler Farr (5:30pm), Gary Allan (6:45pm), Martina McBride (8:15pm) and headliner Keith Urban (10:15pm). Other special events in September include the Panama Jack Outdoor Bike & Boat Show at the Harley-Davidson of Panama City Beach location September 4th-6th. Sunday September 6th will feature the Natalie Reynolds Band performing on the Greens at Carillon Beach. The performance will conclude the summer long Groovin’ on the Green series at Carillon Beach. Showtime is 7:00pm and free to the public. The FUN continues with the 29th annual Lobster Fest at Schooner’s Beach Club September 14th-20th that will feature entertainment, professional beach sand sculptures and contest-16th annual, food specials, and lobster tournament. This event is the biggest 7-day lobster festival in Florida. It is a HUGE event that draws thousands of divers and lobster fans from all over the Southeast. www.schooners.com
September 25th-26th at the Aaron Bessant Park Amphitheatre will feature the 2nd annual Chasin’ the Sun Music Festival. Friday September 25th features the Industry & Chamber Appreciation “Beach Party” (open to public) with performances by the Landsharks (Jimmy Buffet and Beach Boys Tribute Band) and The Tams members of the Beach Music Hall of Fame, Georgia Music Hall of Fame, Atlanta Music Hall of Fame and previous winner of Beach Band of the Decade. Who can forget hits such as “Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy” and “What kind of Fool”? Headlining the beach party will be Pablo Cruise. Hit makers of the 70’s & 80’s with songs such as “Love Will Find a Way”, “Whatcha Gonna Do”, “A Place in the Sun”, “I Go to Rio”, and “Don’t Want to Live Without it”. Saturday night September 26th will be headlined by Country Music Legend Alan Jackson featuring his 25th Anniversary “Keepin’ it Country” tour. Opening for Alan will be Maddie & Tae who currently have a single “Fly” charging up the charts and Chris Stapleton. Chris is known for writing hit songs for the likes of Kenny Chesney, George Strait, Darius Rucker and also Luke Bryan’s “Drink a Beer”. www.visitpanamacitybeach.com

After a successful summer of youth sports events, sports events return in September with the WSL (World Sports League) North American Championships September 10th-13th and September 17th-20th at Frank Brown Park and surrounding parks. Over the two weekends, close to 300 or more teams will participate with 85% of the teams being from outside of Florida. The WSL championships are the largest sports events for the destination in the month of September. www.playwsl.com The weekend of September 25th-27th will feature the Emerald Coast Golf Tour at the Holiday Golf Club, the Zombie Run September 26th at H. G. Harders Complex and the ISA Native American Championships at Frank Brown Park. The sport of indoor volleyball for Gulf Coast State College starts their season off with their Gulf Coast Tournament presented by Visit Panama City Beach featuring six collegiate teams. The team also has home games September 16th against Pensacola State and September 18th against Dalton State at Billy Harrison Fieldhouse on the campus of Gulf Coast State College. September 19th, Gulf Coast State College will be hosting their 1st Annual GCSC Athletic golf tournament at Holiday Golf Club. www.gcathletics.com
September 11th-12th will be the annual 9/11 Stairclimb at Laketown Wharf to honor the fallen from the attacks of September 11, 2001. www.pcbstairclimb.com/#! September 12th, the Audubon Bird Walk takes place at the Conservation Park and on September 19th at the Russell-Fields Pier, the International Coastal Clean-up Day will take place. This is an International Cleanup Day recognized internationally on this date.
