This December, forget about digging your car out of the snow and come play in the sand! The community puts on a wide variety of holiday-themed events to get locals and visitors in the spirit of Christmas. In addition to the holiday events, the PCB Marathon and New Year’s Eve Ball Drop and Celebration are great reasons to head down to the Florida Panhandle.

Salty Christmas Fridays in Historic St. Andrews

Explore the charming area of Historic St. Andrews in Panama City on the four Fridays of December. Shop in the independently-owned shops and dine at one of the unique restaurants such as The Shrimp Boat or Barefoot On The Bay. The shops will be offering specials and treats from 6-8 PM during Salty Christmas. Make sure to stop by Oaks By The Bay park for their annual display of Christmas lights!
PCB Marathon

Take a preemptive strike on those holiday calories by participating in the Panama City Beach Marathon! Breathe in the salty air and take in the views of the Gulf of Mexico as you run down Front Beach Road. In addition to the 5K, Half-Marathon and Marathon races, there will also be a Kid’s Fun Run at 10:00 am. Pre-registration is required for all races expect the Kid’s Fun Run.

Naughty and Nice Comedy Cabaret

Jason Hedden and Jessica St. Hill, two local comedians, are hosting a Comedy Cabaret at the House of Bourbon. Tickets are $10 and will only be sold at the door. Don’t be discouraged if you are having trouble finding the House of Bourbon, as it is located above Barefoot On The Bay. Use the stairs or elevator by Barefoot On The Bay and head to the second floor for a night of holiday-themed laughs.

New Year’s Eve Beach Ball Drop

The NYE Beach Ball Drop in Pier Park has quickly become one of the city’s most popular annual events. Main Street is shut down, as celebrators flood the street from the Grand Theatre to the county pier. A stage is set up right in front of the famous Pier Park Beach Ball that sits atop Celebration Tower. Enjoy live concerts from Barry Fish Band (5:35 pm), PaperWork (8:15 pm), and After Party Experience (10:00 pm) as you grab a bite to eat on one of the many restaurants. At 8:00 pm, 10,000 inflatable beach balls will be dropped and the first fireworks display will begin. If your team can stay awake until midnight, the beach ball will drop from the Celebration Tower, as the final firework display kicks off 2020 with a bang!
